The New Orleans City Council decided not to take a vote Thursday on a proposal to give the city's cab drivers another year to comply with the law setting age restrictions on taxicabs.
Councilman James Gray explained, "We deferred it, not because of any change in support for it. But I wanted to have more conversations with all the parties involved before we brought it to a vote, and we still plan to bring it to a vote."
The proposal has been deferred until the next Council meeting on October 24.
The law requires cabs more than 7-years-old to be off the streets by January 1st.
