The proposed 2014 budget for the Orleans Parish District Attorney's Office was up for review during City Council budget hearings Monday.
DA Leon Cannizzaro said the proposal funds his office at the same level as this year, so his office will be able to deliver the same level of service next year as this year.
However, Cannizzaro warned that in the coming years, he will likely need more funding to continue the current levels of service.
"I thank the mayor for his assistance with the 2014 budget and simply ask you not to cut our funding below the mayor's recommended levels," Cannizzaro said.
The DA said he has long-term funding goals for the office, but given the city's financial situation, would not discuss them at this time.
