New Orleans Police have arrested the father of one of the victims of a triple slaying that left a police dispatcher and her two adult children dead.
41-year-old Shawn Peterson, who was first questioned by NOPD detectives last week, faces three counts of first-degree murder.
Peterson is accused of killing his ex-girlfriend, 39-year-old Christine George, his 18-year-old son Leonard George, and Leonard's 20-year-old year old step-sister Trisa.
The three were found shot to death in the garage of their home in the 4400 block of Jeanne Marie Place in Gentilly around 11pm on September 11.
Serpas said Peterson is a dangerous man with a record of domestic violence. His criminal record includes multiple arrests on charges of murder and manslaughter. At the time of the shootings last week he was on parole on a previous attempted-murder charge.
"This tragedy claimed the lives of not one, but three members of the NOPD family," Serpas said. "Christine George served the people of New Orleans well."
The funerals are set for 10 a.m. Sept. 27 at New Home Full Gospel Ministries.
