Donald Brooks of Thibodaux charged with terrorizing with threat against schools, courts
A 45-year-old Thibodaux man has been arrested in connection with a telephoned threat that led to the lockdown Tuesday of public schools from Thibodaux to Golden Meadow and two courthouses.
The suspect, Donald Brooks, reportedly had been scheduled to appear in court Tuesday in connection with a child support case.
He has been charged with terrorizing and communicating false information of planned arson.
According to the Thibodaux Police Department, Brooks was arrested after investigators were able to link him to the phone that was used by an anonymous caller.
He is being held in the Lafourche Parish Detention Center where bond has been set at $500,000.
A total of 11 schools were placed under lockdown after the threat came in and classes were dismissed at lunchtime so that bombing-sniffing dogs could search the campuses.
