Fire was first reported Tuesday in 2-mile, uninhabited area west of I-510
The New Orleans Fire Department says a brush fire first discovered Tuesday in New Orleans East may have burned itself out.
"We did an aerial assessment this morning, found no areas still burning and actually no signs of smoke either," says NOFD spokesman, Capt. Edwin Holmes.
The fire was burning in an uninhabited area west of I-510 between the Intracoastal Waterway and Bayou Bienvenue and appears to be about 2 miles in circumference.
But when firefighters went to check it out on Wednesday morning, they found no smoke and no signs of hot spots.
The NOFD says it will continue to monitor the site.
