Watch party is an opportunity for the public to come out, view the debate and see the differences between the two candidates

Congressman Steve Scalise is hosting a vice-presidential debate watch party tonight at the Fox and Hound on South Clearview in Elmwood.

"This is going to be open to the public. It's free and we're gonna be looking forward to having a lot of people come and just listen to the two candidates debate against each other for vice-president," Scalise said.

Scalise says he thinks people will see sharp contrasts between the two candidates, Paul Ryan and Joe Biden.

"Paul Ryan's probably one of the smartest people in Washington, and I think it will be good to have him debating against Vice-President Biden so people can really see the difference between the two candidates."

Scalise says he's confident Ryan will be seen as the "clear winner" of tonight's debate, just as Mitt Romney was against Obama last week.

"I think the vice-presidential debate is important because the pick for vice-president shows what kind of people the President leans on for advice."

The watch party starts at 7:30pm, followed by the debate at 8pm, which will be aired live, on Rush Radio 995 WRNO.
