Fox 8 reports it happened when officer responded to domestic argument
A 25-year-old Mid City man has been charged with aggravated battery and battery on a police officer after he allegedly used a taser on an NOPD officer late Monday night.
Brandon Bernard allegedly used the device on police officer Brittany Marigny after she responded to a call regarding a domestic argument at an apartment building in the 3100 block of Tulane Avenue.
Bernard reportedly was involved in a dispute with a girlfriend who complained Bernard had locked her out of the apartment.
A short time after Marigny arrived, Bernard allegedly pulled a taser and fired on her, striking her arm and leaving some burn marks on her uniform. Bernard left the scene and officer Marigny was taken to a hospital where she was checked out and released.
A warrant was issued for Bernard's arrest and he surrendured to police on Thursday morning.
