Local economy will be getting a big boost as a result
It's a huge festival weekend in the New Orleans metro area, and the local economy will be getting a big boost as a result.
There's the Crescent City Blues and BBQ Fest at Lafayette Square, the Gumbo Fest in Bridge City, the Louisiana Seafood Festival at Woldenberg Park and the Wooden Boat Festival across the lake in Madisonville.
"The Crescent City Blues and BBQ Fest tells us that they expect about $1 million in economic impact, and the Louisiana Seafood Fest is expecting about 150,000 people," says Kelly Schulz, spokesperson for the New Orleans Convention and Visitors Bureau.
Schulz tells 99.5FM it's hard to know the exact economic impact of some of these festivals, but they do know festivalgoers will be spending money.
