6-year-old girls were overcome by smoke in fire on Americus Street
The NOPD has charged a woman whose twin daughters were injured in a weekend fire in New Orleans with child neglect.
24-year-old Monrovia Brown has been charged with two counts of neglect for allegedly leaving her children unattended at home while she was at work.
The 6-year-old girls were overcome by smoke in a fire in the 3000 block of Americus Street on Saturday. Both were resuscitated by firefighters and remained in the hospital on Monday morning.
One of the children was found in a closet, the other in a bathroom.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
