Magazine alleges Mathieu received benefits from Baton Rouge night club
Sports Illustrated reports in its current edition that Tyrann Mathieu might lose his future eligibility to play football at LSU.
According to the magazine, the former star cornerback has allowed his image to be used on a flyer promoting an event at the Baton Rouge night club and appeared in several promotional online videos. SI says "multiple sources" told the magazine Mathieu received "benefits" from the club that could affect his eligibility.
Mathieu was dismissed from the team August 10 and underwent four weeks of drug rehabilitation in Houston before returning to LSU to enroll in classes.
Mathieu and his parents declined repeated requests for interviews by Sports Illustrated.
In an interview with Fox 8, Mathieu accused the magazine of "harrassing" him and his family and termed the SI story "ridiculous."
