The Advocate New Orleans Edition has 12,000 subscribers, surpassing initial goal of 10,000 in 6 months
The director of business development for New Orleans' new daily newspaper says the paper has already surpassed its initial goal of 10,000 subscribers. The goal was to have 10,000 in six months.
Jake Manship says as of Tuesday, The Advocate New Orleans Edition had 12,000 subscribers. Are they surprised at the response?
"We are extremely surprised and really grateful though for the support, and everything that we've gotten from the New Orleans area has been great," Manship said in an interview with 99.5FM.
But the higher-than-expected number of subscribers may have led to poor delivery service in the first week or two, but Manship says they're working things out.
"We've had some trouble with some carriers and some computer problems. We're working on a new system and things like that. But really it was just that overwhelming initial response that maybe caught us off guard a little bit."
Manship says overall they're pleased with the content of the paper and the staff they've assembled to cover local news, and reader reaction generally has been good.
