Group of business owners releases list of businesses opposed to renewing the tolls
A group of business owners has come out against extending the tolls on the Crescent City Connection, which are set to expire Dec. 31, 2012.
"Businesses Against the Tolls" Tuesday released a list of 142 businesses opposed to toll renewal.
West Bank businessman John Roberts tells 99.5FM they believe the toll money's been wasted.
"All the promises that were made in 1998 in the last toll renewal, of improvements to the expressway, additional ramps and good oversight of the money has all been an outright lie," Roberts said.
Roberts says many of the businesses on the list are on the West Bank, and it includes businesses of all sizes.
The group is urging voters in Orleans, Jefferson and Plaquemines parishes to reject the proposal on the Nov. 6 ballot that would renew the tolls for another 20 years.
