Former JP council member failed to file financial disclosure statement in 2008
A panel of state ethics judges has refused to toss out a case against former Jefferson Parish Council member Jennifer Sneed over her failure to file a financial disclosure statement in 2008.
According to an opinion released Wednesday, Sneed argued the two-year window for bringing an ethics complaint began May 15, 2009, the deadline for filing the disclosure report. The Board of Ethics filed charges in September 2011.
The ethics judges ruled that the clock started ticking in February 2010 when the board discovered that Sneed had not filed.
Sneed's attorney, Pauline Hardin, told The Times-Picayune her client will appeal the decision.Sneed left the council a few months before her husband, Fred Heeb, negotiated a deal to send the parish's garbage to a landfill he co-owns.
