One man allegedly was dealing drugs out of a fast-food restaurant
Following a month-long investigation, police in Slidell have arrested 14 persons on heroin-related charges.
The suspects, nine men and five women, range in age from 21 to 39-years-old.
The Slidell Police Department says the investigation began in early October after the department received "numerous tips" on its narcotics hotline about a subject dealing heroin in the Slidell area.
One of the men, a 21-year-old Slidell resident, was arrested after investigators determined he allegedly was selling heroin from a fast-food restaurant where he was employed. Buyers reportedly were told to drive into a rear parking lot where they would be met to make the transactions.
Police say no other employee of the unnamed restaurant was involved in or had knowledge of the activity.
12 of those arrested were charged with being in possession of heroin. Two others were charged with distribution.
Investigators are still trying to identify the principal dealer or supplier of the drugs.
