25 from Louisiana to assist with recovery efforts
A convoy of 25 state troopers from around Louisiana is heading to New Jersey to help police there with Hurricane Sandy recovery.
Capt. Doug Cain says the convoy left Monroe, in northeast Louisiana on Sunday.
He says many of the troopers have hurricane recovery experience.
They'll provide law enforcement support and security for teams of emergency management officials in New Jersey as local officials assess damage in the worst-hit areas.
Col. Mike Edmonson, head of Louisiana State Police, says New Jersey State Police were among the first state police to come to Louisiana to help out after Hurricanes Katrina and Rita in 2005.
