Sentence suspended for trombonist Glen David Andrews

New Orleans trombonist Glen David Andrews has pleaded guilty to domestic violence by strangulation and aggravated assault.

The Times-Picayune reports the 32-year-old Andrews entered the plea Thursday to charges stemming from physical confrontations in April and May involving a 33-year-old woman the musician dated on and off.

His lawyer, Robert Hjortsberg, says Andrews' punishment for the felonies is a suspended three-year prison sentence and three years of active probation.

Hjortsberg blamed the violence on Andrews' past drug problems. He recently completed a rehab program at a Boston facility that caters to musicians struggling with addiction.
