28-year-old was struck after being involved in crash near I-10
A 28-year-old woman from Olla, Louisiana was killed around 5 o'clock Saturday morning on the I-310 after she exited a crashed vehicle and was struck by an oncoming car.
Sherrie Polly was the driver of an SUV that was occupied by five other persons. She lost control of the vehicle and it struck a guardrail and became disabled. The SUV blocked at least one lane just south of I-10 and its lights weren't working.
Polly and her passengers got out of the vehicle, and while she was standing in the roadway near the disabled vehicle, she was struck by a car driven by a 26-year-old Covington man. She was pronounced dead at the scene by the St. Charles Parish Coroner's office.
The driver of the other car was treated for moderate injuries and state police say charges are not expected to be filed against him.
