It's hoped screens will be a revenue generator for the Hornets

Two massive video screens are being installed on the outside of the New Orleans Arena facing the expressway.

Superdome/Arena General Manager Alan Freeman says it's the first phase of Arena upgrades the state agreed to make in return for the Hornets signing a long-term lease and essentially surrendering certain guaranteed state subsidies.

Freeman says it's hoped the upgrades will allow the Hornets to generate additional revenues that in the past were subsidized by the state.

"The Hornets will manage these video screens and derive the revenue from them."

The 52 foot by 90 foot screens are expected to be up and operating by Dec. 1.

"The Hornets are controlling the content, so if anyone is interested in learning more about how they can get on those screens they should contact the New Orleans Hornets office," Freeman said.
