Says "it's time for me to move forward"
Former LSU star football player Tyrann Mathieu has decided to enter the next NFL Draft, saying "it's time for me to move forward."
Mathieu was suspended from the LSU football team for the season for a violation of team policy. He subsequently underwent drug rehabilitation in Houston, enrolled in fall classes at LSU and then was arrested on a marijauna possession charge at his apartment in Baton Rouge.
In announcing his decision, Mathieu expressed thanks to his parents, his former teammates and LSU coach Les Miles.
Mathieu released a statement saying he was "sorry that I was unable to complete my journey at LSU."
"To my teammates, you are my brothers. You have kept me going. I will do my best to make you all proud of me."
The 20-year-old Mathieu was a finalist for the Heisman Trophy.
