Both Florida and Louisville are expected to bring a lot of fans, official says
A spokesperson for the New Orleans Convention and Visitors Bureau says they're "thrilled" about the Florida-Louisville Sugar Bowl matchup.
Kelly Schulz tells 99.5FM "we think that both of those teams are gonna travel well and hopefully both of them will be able to come in and drive to New Orleans and maybe get here a little bit easier."
Schulz says the Sugar Bowl, with an estimated economic impact of $150 million, is great for the city's overall economy.
"The hotels will be full, the restaurants will be full, the shops will be full, and it will just be a really good economic boost to what is our most important industry."
And the media exposure that comes with the Sugar Bowl is "priceless", Schulz said.
The event also features a free outdoor festival called the "Allstate Fanfest" to be held Dec. 31-Jan.1 in the Jax Brewery parking lot.
