22-year-old is accused in the wounding of a woman and the death of her mother
The NOPD has identified a 22-year-old man as the suspect in the shooting of a 25-year-old woman and her 40-year-old mother in New Orleans East on Monday night.
Police were seeking Keith Phillips on a charge of second-degree murder in the death of Tiesha Nix. Nix was shot to death and her daughter, Renesha Nix was wounded in the parking lot of an apartment complex in the 6800 block of Parc Brittany shortly after 10pm Monday.
The incident occurred as Tiesha Nix arrived to pick up her daughter following a confrontation with her daughter's estranged boyfriend.
Tiesha Nix was shot in the head and Renesha Nix suffered several wounds to the body and was critically injured.
The NOPD says Phillips has a criminal record that includes previous arrests for domestic battery and domestic violence.
