Two retired judges to preside until at least June 1
The Louisiana Supreme Court has named three judges to fill vacancies in state District Court in Jefferson Parish when three district judges take seats on the state 5th Circuit Court of Appeal on Jan. 1.
The Times-Picayune reports Appellate Judge Walter Rothschild and retired judges Jo Ellen Grant and Carolyn Gill-Jefferson, will preside until at least June 1, 2013.
Voters in some areas of Jefferson Parish will vote in April to fill the vacancies.
District judges Robert Murphy, Steve Windhorst and Hans Liljeberg were automatically elected to the 5th Circuit in August when no candidates signed up to oppose them.
