Louisiana senator issues one-sentence statement on scandal in U.S. attorney's office
Senator Mary Landrieu released a one-sentence statement to 99.5FM Tuesday in answer to a request for comment on disclosures that two high-ranking members of U.S. Attorney Jim Letten's staff blogged about cases on NOLA.com:
"While Jim Letten and his team should be commended for their good work, this current situation is very troubling and unfortunate," Landrieu said through her press office.
Landrieu did not say if she still supports Letten, as she did when President Obama first came into office, or whether it's time for Letten to be replaced.
Last month, Letten's top assistant, Jan Mann, was demoted and earlier this year former federal prosecutor Sal Perricone resigned after their online postings were disclosed.
