75 will go to drivers who have not previously held one
The city of New Orleans will issue 105 new cab licenses,
75 of them will go to drivers who have not previously held a CPNC or Certificate of Public Necessity and Convenience.
30 of the new licenses will be issued to existing cab companies at a maximum of 5 per company.
City code requires CPNC's be in the name of the registered owner of the vehicle to be used.
Applications need to be filed with the Taxicab Bureau at City Hall at 1300 Perdido Street. The agency will issue the licenses on a first-come, first-served basis based on a number of factors including the age vehicles, parish of domicile of the applicant, and length of industry service.
