Should help attract top researchers and millions in grants

Tulane University says a new $7.4 million, 24,000-square-foot research facility will be part of the university's emergence as "a science and engineering powerhouse."

It's called the "Donna and Paul Flower Hall for Research and Innovation." Paul Flower, a driving force behind the project is a 1970 Tulane graduate who was among those set to attend Tuesday's dedication ceremonies.

A university news release says the facility is aimed at helping Tulane attract top researchers and faculty while generating millions of dollars in sponsored research. It is also envisioned as an incubator for emerging companies in areas such as environmental remediation, vaccine delivery and cellular engineering.
