Streets near Superdome will among first to be affected
Several streets around the Superdome will be closed to traffic as early as January 5, a month before Super Bowl XLVII.
53 days before the game, city officials began unveiling their traffic plan for the event on February 3.
The first road closures will affect Dave Dixon Drive, Sugar Bowl Drive, West Stadium Drive, and Howard and Magnolia Avenues. The Superdome exit from the Pontchartrain Expressway also will be closed.
Officials say the streets will be closed as workers assemble equipment in the area.
City Hall is already advising residents that traffic restrictions will escalate as we get closer to the game.
The city's traffic plan, which will be updated in the weeks to come, is available online at www.nola.gov/superbowl.
