28-year-old college student found dead in Gentilly, 83-year-old man stabbed to death in Mid-City

2013 got off to a violent start in New Orleans, with police investigating two murders and three shootings all in a 24-hour period.

The first murder of the year was that of 28-year-old Antonio Llovet, who was found dead by a family member in his home in the 2300 block of Dreux St. in the Milneburg neighborhood shortly after 9 a.m. Tuesday.

Around 7 p.m., an 83-year-old man was found stabbed several times at his apartment in a senior living apartment complex in the 3600 block of Tulane Ave. in Mid-City. He died on the scene.

Four people were also injured in three shooting incidents last night and early Wednesday morning.
