New store expected to open this summer
Pre-construction activity has begun at the site of the new Costco store along Carrollton Avenue near I-10.
Aimee Quirk, Mayor Mitch Landrieu's economic development adviser, tells 99.5FM "They've got to just ready the site with some pile driving and other activities like that."
Quirk says the project has a quick construction schedule, so it won't be long before we start to see the building going up. The store is expected to open in July or August of this year.
It will be the first Costco store not only in the city but also in the state.
"And we're really excited about the opportunity that it's going to bring for jobs for our residents but also shopping opportunities for our citizens," Quirk said.
