Great Hall is the largest ballroom in the city and is column free
Officials at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center offered a sneak peek Thursday evening of The Great Hall, the largest ballroom in the city.
The Great Hall is a $52 million renovation of the former Hall A and La Louisiane Ballroom. It boasts 60,000 square feet and is column free.
Bob Johnson, President/General Manager of the convention center, says having the Great Hall means the city will be able to host conventions and other large gatherings that need a large, column-free space.
"It gives the meeting planners now much, much more flexibility in how they can conduct their events, and it also provides a space for local events that heretofore have not been able to find a space large enough to do what they need to do," Johnson said.
The first official use of the Great Hall will be as the site of the NFL Store in conjunction with the Super Bowl, and will be inaugurated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday, Jan. 25 at 10am.
