Reviewing stands along Vets at Causeway have been upgraded, official says
While the 2013 Carnival parades in New Orleans won't roll until next weekend, floats will be on the streets this Sunday in Metairie and Slidell.
The Krewe of Lil' Rascals kicks off the parade season in Jefferson Parish. It rolls at Noon Sunday on Veterans Boulevard only and not on Severn or Bonnabel.
Sean Burke, director of Citizens Affairs in the parish, says the parade reviewing stands along Veterans Blvd. at Causeway Blvd. have been upgraded. He says they're more handicap accessible and feature safety railing and seats.
"They came out very nice. We're very pleased. We got a lot of compliments on the stands this year," Burke said.
In Slidell, it's a doubleheader with the Krewe of Slidellians parade at 1pm followed by the Krewe of Claude.
