David Brown of Lockport faces 3 counts of first degree murder
A 35 year old Lockport man has been charged with three counts of first degree murder in the deaths of a Lockport mother and her two daughters last November, Lafourche Parish authorities said Wednesday.
David Brown has also been charged with attempted murder, aggravated rape and aggravated arson in the incident which resulted in the deaths of 29 year old Jacquelin Nieves and her two daughters, seven year old Gabriela Nieves and 20 month old Izabela Nieves.
Brown is accused of entering Nieves' apartment during the early morning hours of Sunday, Nov. 4, proceeding upstairs armed with a knife, entering a bedroom and allegedly sexually assaulting two of the victims before stabbing all three several times each. Authorities believe he then set the apartment on fire and fled the scene.
Investigators say Carlos Nieves Jr., Jacquelin's husband and father of Gabriela and Izabela, had been asleep downstairs in the apartment during the entire incident.
Brown is being held on a $3.31 million bond.
