Sheriff's office is providing both personnel and equipment
Among the law enforcement agencies assisting the New Orleans Police Department in providing security for the Super Bowl is the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office.
Sheriff Newell Normand told 99.5FM Thursday that his deputies have already begun working in the city.
"We will have between 80 and 90 officers that will be in and out of the city throughout this week as well as next week leading up to the game," Normand said.
"We will be doing walking beats, working in the intelligence sections, working undercover, helping with traffic."
The sheriff says they've also loaned equipment to the NOPD, such as Sky Watch towers.
Normand says the city's Super Bowl security plan is "very impressive".
