FBI reportedly has subpoenaed records on 1,200 cases handled by Harry Morel, Jr.
The FBI reportedly is investigating how DWI hundreds of cases were handled by former St. Charles Parish District Attorney, Harry Morel, Jr.
Morel, who served as the D.A. for 33 years, left office last May.
A Boutte-based newspaper, The St. Charles Herald Guide reports that investigators are looking into how Morel's office handled DWI cases during Morel's final term.
The government is seeking information on 1,200 cases Morel's office handled from January 2009 through May 2012.
According to the published report, investigators want to know whether those cases were prosecuted, dismissed, refused, or referred to pre-trial intervention.
