No traffic will be allowed between Claiborne and LaSalle effective Saturday
Beginning Saturday, January 26, 2013, traffic restrictions near the Mercedes-Benz Superdome will expand.
Commuters and visitors to the downtown New Orleans area will be most affected by the closure of the river-bound lanes of Poydras Street from LaSalle to South Claiborne. Poydras exit 234B from I-10 east will also be closed during this time.
The best options for residents who work in the area near the Mercedes-Benz Superdome will be to take the Loyola exit from the Pontchartrain Expressway and use Loyola Avenue to get to other downtown streets, including the lake-bound lanes of Poydras, which will remain open during this time. Garages at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome will remain accessible from a portion of West Stadium Drive.
Traffic restrictions will intensify moving closer to the Super Bowl and on game day, February 3, 2013. Parking will be extremely limited throughout the Mardi Gras and Super Bowl festivities.
Visitors are encouraged to utilize public transportation whenever possible. Starting Wednesday, January 30, enhanced streetcar services will be provided along all streetcar lines, bus services along streetcar lines will be added as needed.
