Dave MacLellan waged an intense campaign to find the person who shot and killed his son in Lakeview in 2004

The man who waged a tenacious campaign to find the person who murdered his son in Lakeview eight and a half years ago has died not knowing who killed his son.

Dave MacLellan of Massachusetts succumbed to a heart attack last week at the age of 69. He was the father of 38-year-old John MacLellan, who died after being shot at West Harrison Avenue and Bellaire Drive July 16, 2004.

"Dave, as a father, was certainly very committed to trying to find justice for his son, and I think that it's very sad for us that the case had not been solved," says Darlene Cusanza, President/CEO of Crimestoppers of Greater New Orleans.

Cusanza says she was very impressed with Dave MacLellan's zeal and persistence in trying to solve his son's case.

A suspect has never been identified. A $5,000 reward is still being offered by Crimestoppers.
