Groundbreaking for Tulane's Yulman Stadium coming soon
The city of New Orleans and Tulane University have reached agreement over the operation of a new on-campus football stadium and construction is expected to begin as soon as permits are issued.
The $55 million dollar facility will be called Yulman Stadium and it will play host to college and high school football games, Tulane special events such as commencement exercises and general community events.
The stadium, designed to accomodate 30,000, will not host other events like concerts, monster truck shows, circuses, rodeos or boat shows.
Tulane will be allowed to host no more than ten non-football major events at the facility in a calendar year.
The University has agreements to provide parking with shuttle service from six locations.
At Tulane’s expense, Parking Control Officers will be on duty in the neighborhoods during major events to enforce legal parking restrictions and ticketing. Up to 15 tow trucks will be available at major events to tow cars illegally parked.
Tulane will host a community meeting in February to answer questions about the process moving forward and what to expect during the construction phase.
