13 are motorcycle deputies helping with traffic enforcement and escorts
Over 200 state police officers are on duty in New Orleans assisting the NOPD for the Super Bowl and they've been joined by 25 deputies from the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office.
25 St. Tammany deputies from the traffic, street crimes, and marine divisions have been assigned to duties in New Orleans. 13 of the deputies are riding motorcycles and are providing motorcade escorts.
They'll return to the north shore for the Friday and Saturday night parades and be back on duty in New Orleans on Sunday.
The St. Tammany Parish Sheriffs’ Office is among several other departments that have come to aid NOPD for the event. The FBI has assigned 200 personnel to New Orleans.
Sheriff Jack Strain says “we remain committed to helping our partners in law enforcement whenever we are called upon”.
