Woman robbed in parking garage on N. Rampart
New Orleans Police are requesting the public’s assistance in identifying and locating a suspect wanted for a simple robbery that occurred Saturday morning in the 200 block of North Rampart Street.
The victim was walking to her vehicle in a parking garage around 6AM when she was approached by a man who took her cell phone and demanded cash.
When the woman said she didn’t have any cash, the robber began going through her purse and took some money.
He then asked the victim where she lived and told her that he needed a ride home. As the robber began walking the victim to her car, he spotted other customers enter the garage and fled on Iberville Street back into the French Quarter.
The robber was described as an African-American male, approximately 20 years of age with a medium build and medium complexion with short hair. Police say he may have had four gold teeth.
Detectives obtained surveillance video and determined that the subject was wearing a brown jacket, white t-shirt, dark pants and dark shoes.
