Two persons were killed in the Monday morning crash

Two persons were killed in a two-vehicle crash westbound on I-10 in St. Charles Parish Monday morning.

Louisiana State Police report that 26-year-old Nechole Thomas of Houston was driving at a high rate of speed on the shoulder of the roadway at mile post 214.6 when she crashed into another car and both vehicles caught fire.

While Thomas escaped with minor injuries, the two occupants of the other vehicle were killed.  Investigators say they could not immediately identify the victims because of the nature of their injuries.

Police suspect impairment was a factor in the crash and Thomas was booked into the St. Charles Parish Correctional Center on two counts of vehicular homicide, DWI and reckless operation of a vehicle.
