La. drivers could be paying as much as $3.80 a gallon by spring
New Orleans-area drivers are having to dig a little deeper into their pockets to pay for gasoline.
Don Redman, spokesman for the American Automobile Association (AAA) in Louisiana, says gas prices have gone up almost 8 cents since the beginning of the month and almost 20 cents from just a month ago.
"We're looking right now at an average of about $3.38 a gallon," Redman said.
And you can blame the spike in the price of gas on the price of crude oil, which has shot up close to $98 a barrel.
Redman says he expects prices will continue to climb as we move into the spring months.
"We could be looking this spring at prices in Louisiana anywhere between $3.50 to $3.80 a gallon," Redman said.
