It's an opportunity to throw back unwanted beads and other items on the spot for recycling

A bead recycling float sponsored by ARC of Greater New Orleans is scheduled to roll in two Metairie parades: Isis on Saturday night and Argus on Fat Tuesday.

The "Catch and Release" float will be located at the end of each parade.

"We're the last float before the firetrucks," says recycling coordinator Margie Perez. "People can throw their beads into the float so they don't have to lug them home."

And parade goers can throw back more than just beads for recycling.

"We will take pretty much anything that's thrown from a float," Perez said.

The beads and other items collected will be sorted, repackaged and sold.
