Threat of rain given as reason
The Krewes of Hera and Zeus have canceled their Lundi Gras parades in Metairie after being advised by weather forecasters that heavy rains, including thunderstorms, and possible flash flooding are in the forecast for Lundi Gras evening.
The Captains of both Krewes have decided to cancel their parades "for the safety and well-being of those traveling to Metairie...and for the safety of the members."
"The weather creates a hazard for all participants in our processions this year that we cannot overcome," the Krewes said in a joint statement,
Costumed members of both Krewes will appear Monday afternoon at a "scaled-down" version of their inaugural Lundi Fest at Buffalo Wild Wings at the corner of Severn Avenue and Veterans Memorial Boulevard. It begins at 12PM.
