15th annual meeting of the courts celebration ends about three hours early
The annual Lundi Gras celebration at Rivertown in Kenner was cut short by rainy weather on Monday.
Shortly after the courts of Zulu and Argus met inside the Rivertown Exhibition Hall and the Kings and Queens made a brief walk outside around noon, the event ended some three hours ahead of schedule.
Musical performances and food sales had been scheduled until 3pm, but poor weather conditions led to a small crowd.
The King and Queen of Zulu moved on to Woldenberg Park, site of the 20th Annual Zulu Lundi Gras Festival.
Rex, King of Carnival, is scheduled to arrive on the riverfront by boat at 6pm. The mayor and other dignitaries will greet him at Spanish Plaza outside the Hilton Hotel.
