Case against two teens will be moved to Criminal District Court
Two New Orleans teenagers charged in the February 4 abduction, rape, beating and robbery of a 30-year-old Garden District woman will be tried as adults in Criminal District Court.
Lawyers for 15-year-old Sheldon Jefferson and 16-year-old Joseph Davis have stipulated that the District Attorney has probable cause to move the case from juvenile court.
The two are likely to be arraigned in criminal court later this week and the District Attorney will move to seek indictments of the two.
The third suspect in custody in the case is 18-year-old Christopher Davis who is not related to other defendant by the same last name. He's being held in lieu of a $1.5 million bond.
The three are accused of aggravated kidnapping, aggravated rape, aggravated battery and armed robbery.
The victim was abducted at gunpoint after stepping out of her car on Eighth Street. She was sexually assaulted and beaten while she was driven around in another vehicle. The perpetrators returned to steal her car and then released her at Eighth and Chestnut.
