Florists were busy selling roses, especially red ones; restaurants were filled with couples celebrating the occasion
Valentine's Day is typically the busiest day of the year for florists, and today was no exception.
Mike Rudiger, owner of Beth's Flowers in Metairie, says by Noon, they had exceeded their Valentine's Day sales from last year. And the hot seller?
"Red roses. Everybody wants red roses for Valentine's Day. They are the same price that they were last year - $79.99 arranged in a vase," Rudiger said.
To make sure orders were delivered on time, Rudiger brought in a dozen extra drivers to make deliveries.
Valentine's Day is also a busy day for restaurants, as New Orleans restaurateur Ralph Brennan told us:
"Many of the tables tonight and today are deuces, two tops, just couples going out to have dinner and celebrating."
Brennan recommends making reservations, but most of all "have fun. I would find someone who is very important and go out and have dinner."
