4-day festival to be held in early April next year
New Orleans will play host to wrestling fans in early April next year as the Superdome will be the venue for WrestleMania 30, an event organized by World Wrestling Entertainment.
The 4-day festival is expected to produce a local economic impact of over $100 million.
The pay-per-view wrestling event on April 6, 2014 will be televised to more than 100 countries.
Mayor Mitch Landrieu thanked the WWE for bringing its largest annual event to the city.
"We are proud to have played host to some of the greatest sports and entertainment events in the world over the past two years, and hosting WrestleMania is a great way to continue this unprecedented streak, Landrieu said.
The WWE says last year's event, held in Miami, drew fans from all 50 states and that 70% of the visitors were from outside Miami.
