The Marathon and Half Marathon begin at 7AM Sunday
An estimated 16,000 runners are expected to participate Sunday in the 2013 Rock 'N' Roll Marathon and the city of New Orleans is urging motorists to pay attention to where they park.
The Marathon and Half Marathon will begin at 7AM in the CBD at the Corner of Poydras and Camp Streets. The course includes St. Charles Avenue to Audubon Park and later, Decatur Street to Esplanade Avenue because the event will end at City Park.
There will be no parking along the race route and the race course and areas surrounding the starting line and Lafayette Square will become a no parking zone at 12AM Sunday. Parking meters will be bagged and signs will be posted warning of parking restrictions.
Parking enforcement personnel will monitor illegal parking, including blocking fire hydrants, driveways and sidewalks, or parking within 20 feet of a crosswalk, intersection of stop signs in residential neighborhood near the start and finish lines.
Motorists are also advised that they will face citations if they park their vehicles facing the wrong direction.
No Parking signs have been posted on the Marconi Drive neutral ground.
