53-year-old escaped from the Orleans Parish Prison tent jail last August
A 53-year-old prisoner who escaped from the tent jail at the Orleans Parish Prison last August has been apprehended in Texas.
Larry Ard, who was being held on charges of purse snatching and violating parole, cut a hole in a tent and escaped August 16.
Sheriff Marlin Gusman says Ard has been taken into custody at a manufacturing facility in north Houston. He was apprehended Thursday afternoon by members of the Gulf Coast Violent Offenders & Fugitive Task Force.
Ard reportedly had been living in a homeless shelter under the name of his brother.
He was booked into the jail in Waller County, Texas.
