Questions had been raised about the arrest record of her fiance

Deputy N.O. Mayor Michelle Thomas has resigned, citing "personal reasons."

But her resignation came, shortly after questions were raised by a New Orleans television station about the arrest record of her fiance.

Channel 4 had reported that court records showed that her 44-year-old fiance has an extensive arrest history that included narcotics charges.

Thomas was named deputy mayor of operations in July 2011.  She succeeded Greg St. Etienne who resigned after it was reported that he had directed taxpayer-subsidized loans to members of his family when he served as head of a non-profit organization.

Thomas oversaw several agencies and city departments including Sanitation, the Taxicab Bureau, Safety anda Permits and the New Orleans Recreation Development Commission.
