2-4 inches of rain possible by Monday night

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for most of Southeast Louisiana including the New Orleans area through Monday evening.

A flash flood watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding.

2 to 4 inches of new rainfall is expected as a warm front moves north from the Gulf and meets a strong cold front approaching from the west.

These fronts will produce showers and thunderstorms.

Forecasters say excessive runoff due to nearly saturated soils will likely elevated river stages and produce flooding on local rivers.
